Maryland Matters Editor to Moderate Democratic Candidate Forum This Week

One of the biggest political schmoozefests of the year is taking place this Thursday, and we’re pleased to report that Maryland Matters will play a small part in it.

The annual Committee for Montgomery legislative breakfast is one of the hottest tickets in town. Hundreds of political, business and civic leaders from Maryland attend. They hear speeches from Montgomery County politicians, who lay out their priorities for the year ahead, especially for the upcoming General Assembly session. The level and volume of schmooze is unparalleled. And there’s usually a special guest or two – or eight, in this year’s case.

The breakfast this year will feature the eight Democratic candidates for governor – the first time all eight have appeared on one stage together in Montgomery County. Josh Kurtz, co-founder and editor of Maryland Matters, will serve as the moderator. Gov. Larry Hogan (R) was invited to the breakfast but is not expected to appear.

The breakfast runs from 7-10 a.m. and takes place at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, 5701 Marinelli Rd., Bethesda. The program begins at around 8:15 a.m. and the gubernatorial contenders are scheduled to take the stage around 8:30 a.m. The schmooze starts bright and early at 7, and continues well beyond the formal program.

Tickets can be purchased here.
